identity

The thing about moving is that it doesn’t have the same spiritual levity of travelling When you travel you know what home is and that you will be returning But when you move you are in limbo
The things you counted on, the routine you had – it is all thrown out the window and you have to carve out new ways of being
Your friends, the shop that makes you the latte just the way you like it, your home, the places you seek comfort – they are all gone and you realize how important they are to you, how much of your identity comes from it

Moving is like being thrown underwater not knowing which way is up You have to feel around holding your breath
You have to know and have faith that you will surface for air and find your way to land
